Pastor Dave began his work as St Mark’s Pastor in August 2018. He has served congregations in Wisconsin, Arizona, and Iowa in small rural and large urban congregations. Pastor Dave and Leslie have been married for 40+ years and have three adult daughters living in Phoenix, AZ, and Minneapolis, MN. They have a Golden Doodle named “Oscar,” who frequently helps him with pastoral care.
For years his picture at previous church's had him in a suit and clergy collar, looking the part. But, since arriving in Storm Lake he has really found a passion for connecting St Mark with the community around us. Pastor Dave has been helping congregations, pastors, and other church leaders think about what it is that we are to be about as a church in the communities in which we live. At St Mark this has meant rethinking how we "do church" so that we are making a direct difference in the lives of congregation members and in the community. You will quickly discover what that looks like when you visit St Mark.
You will frequently see him involved in activities helping to build community both here at St Mark and in the larger community. The vision for the future that we share is for St Mark to be a caring and compassionate community where our love for our neighbors may demonstrate our love for God.
His preaching style is weaving the scriptures and our daily lives, inviting us to be the voices and hands of Jesus in the world today.
