The group will meet to discuss two books by Angeline Boulley. The Firekeeper’s Daughter is about an 18-year-old biracial Ojibwe girl named Daunis Fontaine who goes undercover for the FBI to stop a dangerous meth ring in her Michigan community. Warrior Girl Unearthed is about Perry-Firekeeper-Birch, an Ojibwe girl forced into a museum internship after a car accident where she discovers her tribe's ancestral remains are trapped in a college archive. She teams up with her twin sister and friends to repatriate the ancestors and investigate missing Indigenous women. The fictional books are inspired by the author’s real-life background and community. She is an enrolled member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians in
Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
The discussion group is open to all. Please feel free to join us!
